Representing the interests of the Agricultural Producers of Montgomery County Maryland

Welcome to Montgomery Agricultural Producers (MAP), a non-profit organization representing the agricultural producers of Montgomery County, Maryland.  MAP is the voice of these hard-working and dedicated citizens of Montgomery County who work to protect the precious resource we call the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve.

Who are agricultural producers?  We are grain farmers growing corn, soybeans and wheat.  We are dairy, beef and poultry farmers.  Our “Table Top “and “Pick Your Own” farms are some of the best in the state of Maryland.  Our members’ harvests can be found in local grocery stores and restaurants throughout the county.

Some of our members are third and fourth generation farmers that have a rich history of preserving farmland through production agriculture.  Farming is one of the best ways to protect and preserve open space in our county, and production agriculture is the driving force behind the long term preservation of this reserve.  As our county continues to grow, there will be increasing pressure to use this reserve for development.  It is MAP’s mission to protect this valuable resource for future generations of farmers.

Our goal as an organization is to educate the community about issues that affect agriculture in our county.  We want to ensure the continuance of an environment that encourages productive agriculture for future generations and ensure the vitality of our open space by maintaining a viable and productive agricultural sector.  We hope that you find this web site informative.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have about our organization.
